This week marks the celebration of the national Energy Saving Week, designed to raise awareness among citizens and businesses about everyday actions that promote energy conservation.

We are entering a new phase in energy usage, where saving energy means not only reducing consumption but also using electricity at the most efficient times. A smart energy user tracks both consumption and electricity prices, adjusting their habits to reduce waste.

For Plugit, energy efficiency is always a priority. Our charging solutions are designed to support optimal electricity usage. Through our backend system and load management features, charging station owners or operators can control energy consumption by setting power limits or scheduling charging times. Energy use can be shifted to periods when electricity prices are lower and demand is reduced.

Many electric vehicles allow users to schedule charging during cheaper electricity hours. Drivers using Plugit Finland-operated charging stations and the Plugit Charging network also contribute to environmental sustainability, as our stations provide 100% renewable electricity, certified to be produced by hydropower. Choosing renewable electricity is one of the quickest and easiest ways to reduce your charging-related carbon footprint and make a tangible impact on the environment.

This year, Plugit took part in Energy Saving Week from a social responsibility perspective. We provided educational materials to the 2C class at Sampo School in Tampere, supporting their week-long energy-saving theme with the “Hey, Everything Works!” learning materials. The students explored energy-saving topics through both written content and engaging, gamified activities.

“The campaign carries an important and meaningful message. I believe that energy-saving, recycling, and reusing should play a larger role in students’ daily school life. Theme weeks like this help students dive deeper into key topics while adding some variety to their regular schoolwork,” said Karoliina Vainio, a teacher at Sampo School.
