Johan Mild appointed President and CEO from 1.11.2024

Plugit Finland Oy, a provider of charging solutions for electric vehicles, has appointed Johan Mild as CEO. Mild has previously served as CEO of Remeo Oy. In August, Riikka Ylikoski took over as CFO and member of the management team. Later this year, the Chief Technology Officer will also be announced.

Tommi Saarela, founder and CEO of Plugit since 2012, will hand over the CEO role to Johan Mild. He will continue to work as a significant owner of the company from the board of directors. Saarela will continue to provide strong operational support and will now be able to focus on building the business, networking and driving the electrification message forward. The goal is clear: to electrify Nordic companies that need electric vehicle charging solutions and to build a data-driven, intelligent public charging network for commercial vehicles.

“We are strengthening our management team to enable us to scale the business we want,” says Tommi Saarela. “By 2028, we are aiming for a turnover of EUR 120 million, three times the current level. To achieve this, we needed someone in the company who knows how to transform organisations, is able to invest and brings structure to our operations. Johan Mild is the best CEO for us in this situation.”

“It is a great honour to be able to contribute to Plugit’s growth story and to take it forward together with Tommi,” says Johan Mild. “I bring to Plugit my expertise in data-driven management, which brings a systematic and planned approach to the business. Plugit has a great team of people from different disciplines, and it’s important to remember that we always work as a team.”

Growth through geographical expansion

Riikka Ylikoski, who joined Plugit as CFO in August, joined from Betolari. She has experience in international industry and growth companies, which supports Plugit’s growth objectives.

“Riikka’s expertise and experience are a very important piece of the puzzle for us as we accelerate our investments in service businesses and supporting technology platforms as part of our growth story,” says Tommi Saarela.

Plugit currently operates in Finland, but the company is targeting the Nordic countries, especially Sweden, as well as the Baltic and partly Polish markets. In Sweden, business has already started and the country organisation is currently being strengthened. Managed expansion into the local market is one of the cornerstones of the company’s strategy.

Since the beginning of 2022, Plugit has been majority-owned by the global infrastructure investor DIF Capital Partners, which is investing around EUR 100 million in the company to grow the e-mobility market in the Nordic and Baltic countries, with a significant positive impact on reducing carbon emissions.
