Pioneering Emissions-Free Construction in Stockholm with PEAB’s Persikan
In the Persikan neighbourhood of Södermalm, new urban quarters are under construction with a groundbreaking goal: to complete the project with zero emissions, eliminating emissions from all construction machinery and tools. This goal was reached in summer 2024, as the project now exclusively operates emissions-free machinery and equipment. Peab is responsible for fine-grading around the new quarters and constructing two new parks.
Persikan is a pilot project and the city’s first attempt at fully electric land construction. Electric machinery was gradually phased in, and the project now includes two fully electric wheeled excavators and two fully electric transport trucks, marking the achievement of the emissions-free goal.
